Workshop presentation of illumination Minesara
Born into an artistic family universe, Sarah Lesselbaum has always loved to draw from a very early age. Graphics studies and illustration led her to do her present designs.
Practicing watercolor for several years, she has moved gradually towards Jewish themes, and then discovering her passion for Hebrew illuminated manuscripts.
She then formed techniques of traditional illumination at the Museum of Printing in Lyon (France) with Mary Gorrindo, artist "enlumineresse", who was introduced to ancestral techniques by monks holding these trade secrets.
Sarah, then devoted herself to learning biblical texts and contemporary writings from scribes and adapting this knowledge to today technology.
In 2001, she united her talents to those of Franck Benayoun, artistic and technical advisor, creating the Minesara* illumination workshop (prism* in Hebrew). With a contemporary approach to illumination, this creative and dynamic team has set a goal to give new blood to tradition by restoring the art of an ancient era.
